Colin's how to with OS/2 page - Q & As

The first question I have been  asked so far:-

"I wonder if you know what to tell me about my latest puzzle.  i installed Warp 4 on a new machine, then installed the new removable media storage drivers (so my built-in zip drive would be supported).  the system was installed from the cdrom drive, which was then drive F: (and the zip drive was not seen at all).  the new drivers, however, map the zip before the cdrom, so F: is now the zip drive and the cdrom has become G:  this doesn't bother some things, but the system seems to remember that it was installed from F:, so that now selective install fails because it assumes that drive.  do you know any way to change this?  i figure the system has an "installation
drive" parameter squirreled away somewhere, but i haven't been able to find it."

Not easy this one, but I have an answer eventually (after nearly trashing my machine).

The file you need to edit is x:\OS2\INSTALL\REINSTAL.INI.  First, take a copy of this file. Next, get an INI editor - I used INIEDIT2 (here - 90274 bytes - you need VROBJ.DLL as well - here - 402231 bytes).  Run this tool with the command INIEDIT2 x:\OS2\INSTALL\REINSTAL.INI, and the program should open.  Select the application InstallWindow and an image similar to the one below should appear:-

Click on the Options at the top and remove the Read Only selection.  Then double click on SOURCEPATH and change it to the new drive letter of your OS/2 files - see below.

Click on Set and exit the INI Editor.  That's it.  All new Selective Installs should use the new path you have entered.

More to come as people ask.
